so tonight I’m pulling an all nighter. Well, so far. It’s 5 am and I’m still trying to get stuff done. I’m exhausted and I’m going to regret this. But, I have stuff to get done and the clock is spinning out of control!! The plus side. I got my Christmas cards ordered for the first time in years. Now, to get them back, addressed, stamped and sent before Christmas. But, hey, they’re ordered! The downside, it’s about time to get up and I haven’t even laid down yet. It’s a give and take owning your own business! Pros and cons. And when your a photographer, the holiday season, well, let’s just say, sleep is something we tend to get very little of.
As I was searching for something online a few minutes ago, I stumbled across this video, and I have to share it. It’s so moving, possibly a tear jerker, but in a happy way. Consider yourself warned.
my kids don’t make a blog appearance much. In fact, you’d be surprised to know, they don’t make it in front of my camera much. They have PCS (Photographer’s Child Syndrome). Even before I was a professional photographer, I took a million and one photos of boys, so they have hated the camera for pretty much…ever.
You can imagine how excited and shocked I was when my oldest (don’t ask his age, it only ages me, thanks) asked me to just step out in our backyard and snap a few of him and his guitar yesterday.
These were done in literally 5 minutes at I think noon. ha~ Hey, beggers can’t be choosers I’ve learned. I thought I’d share. Because well, following this Thankful theme I have going on….I am extremely grateful, thankful and blessed to be this young mans mom and even sometimes friend. He’s a good “man” and I could not be prouder of him.
World…Travis. Travis…world. World…be good to him, or else.
I just realized I didn’t put any of him and his guitar in these! I’ll post more later.
This is one of those photos I was talking about in my post below, that when I see it while editing, I say “aww” usually outloud. I may even get a little teary eyed.
and then I wish I had something like this of my boys. It’s just SO sweet.
I thought I’d get this posted right after part one, but of course, that didn’t happen. I guess it’s a good excuse, I’ve been busy! Holiday season is starting to take off. So, I can’t complain!
I had such a hard time narrowing pictures down for this post. This session was so much fun. The lighting was perfect. The girls were angels. And outdoor newborn session was divine! I wish I could post them all! The best part was, they took me out afterwards! Do I have a great job or what?! I absolutely adore this family. They are so sweet, so fun, so real and touch crazy. Yes, perfect.
Thank you K family for allowing me to capture this important time in your lives. I love our times together and am so grateful you allow me document these milestones in your beautiful family.
another photographer I follow posted this video and I loved it enough that I wanted to share it with you all. I’ve been really into all things inspiring lately. Things that will make us get off our butts and follow our dreams. I mean, I guess I always have been moved by this stuff, but lately it seems to hit even harder home for me. Maybe I’m ready do more about it myself. I don’t know. This video really touched me. I hope it does you too.
Can you believe I am going to post another little princess? Yes! This is my year for girls, finally!! I have shot newborn boys for two years straight, and although I adore those little men, I have missed some little girls to love on and photograph. I mean, give me some PINK people!
Avery’s mommy is a girls girl. Need a bow? She has it….in every color. Need a dress? Not a problem. Not only is Avery the third baby of this beautiful family, but she is the THIRD GIRL as well. (Go ahead, say a prayer for dad now before we continue).
When I went over to do Avery’s newborn photos, we were going to do the entire family, but the older girls had been hit by a flu bug. So, we decided to split the session into two. That way we could make sure to get Avery’s birth announcement and newborn photos done while she was still fresh. Fresh as in 5 days old fresh. Ahhh….now that is what I call NEW-BORN.
Avery’s mommy, Cristy and I, said we were going to do a “quick” first session. Just a few shots of Avery that day. But I tell you, when you get a sleepy baby like Avery was, and two crazy fun people like Cristy and I in the same room with said sleepy baby…well, the only way the session is going to end is when dad makes it end. (*insert childish giggle)
And you didn’t think newborn sessions could be fun!! pfft.
Here are a few of what we got of Princess Avery that day….
*warning….you may want to hold on to those ovaries. I do try to give you fair warning before posts like these…. sometimes I forget, but this time, you have been warned.
Isn’t that big smile the best!?! She was smiling a lot that day. I’m telling you, she was the perfect little model! Oh and notice, she had the same adorable little tutu dress that Ms. Aubrey had in the next post.
While doing these, I realized I never blogged mommy’s maternity session. Since that is so far behind…I decided to just include a couple for you. Avery was a great surprise! Mommy and daddy waited until she entered the world to find out if she was a boy or girl! I for one, was convinced she was going to be a boy. Yeah…don’t take me to Vegas.
And here’s where 50% of those beautiful looks come from:
We had fun at the maternity shoot too!! Lots of laughs! I just love shooting Cristy; she’s always up for anything. We even got into the river that day. We both left wet that day…..but it was totally worth it!!
Thank you SO much Cristy!! It is always SOOO fun when we get together! Can’t wait for the next time!
I’m going to blow the dust of this thing…and we know there is A LOT! Then, you may want to grab and drink and have a seat, this is going to be a LONG post! Hey, I missed you guys!
I am going to try to avoid talking about how long it has been since I was last on here. But, I know you all know how long it has been, so that isn’t going to help me much. I’ve missed it. I’ve missed sharing my work with you. I will admit though…being gone so long, and trying to come back and write again, is like when you stop going to the gym and know you should start again, the first step is the hardest. NOT that I would know. I’m assuming. You know, from everyone that has told me that.
SO, since we are on the topic of my MIA. I have been gone as MOST of you know has been for some rebranding. A THREE WEEK rebrand that was started in May. I’ll let you do the math from there. Just know, it’s still in the works, and will be done…sometime. And I cannot wait!!
I was waiting to share all of the photoshoots with you on the new blog, but, if I wait much longer, I will never catch up, so, I decided, to start sharing some with you on this in the meantime. I’ve been asked many time to PLEASE blog again….so, here I am. And I thank you for not giving up on me!!!! <3
Well, shall we get down to business?? Wanna see some supa dupa cuuute photos? Okie dokie! First up, we have…..*drum roll*
Ms. AUBREY + her mommy + daddy
Ms. Aubrey is pretty special. See, she is the beautiful daughter of that handsome man up there…who just so happens to be my baby brother. He acted like he hated this entire process, but deep down, I’m sure he can’t wait for our next round…which will hopefully be soon!
This is how I have felt all week. Run down, tired and with the worst cold of my life, I swear. Not sure who gave it to me, but it’s the one gift I don’t like receiving.
Oh Jack Jack. Just when I didn’t think you could possibly get ANY cuter, somehow, you did. And when I didn’t think you could possibly smile anymore than you did as an infant, you do, non.stop. And it’s even more contageous.
What a FUN morning I had with Jackson and his sister Lauren. These two have changed so much in the past 6 months. Both hitting new milestones. Jackson obviously more, since he’s younger. He is now RUNNING, when he was barely even walking at our last session. And when I say running, I mean, this boy is fast! Most of my session was on the fly! He loved being chased and swung around. Such a personality. I loved every minute.
Lauren used to not like to have her photo taken very much, but this time, she wanted it taken!! She was such a little lady. It’s amazing what a few months will do. She loved posing for the camera and is growing up to be such a beautiful young girl. She still adores tutu’s and pretty dresses as much as she always has, I love that about her. She is such a girly girl.
The fun really began when I brought the pinwheels out! I LOVE how these turned out! So colorful and fun!
